TRANSIT(TRANsformative Social Innovation Theory)은 연구와 실천 모두에 유용한 전환적 사회혁신(Transformative Social Innovation; TSI) 이론을 모색하는 국제 연구 프로젝트이다. 전환이론, 사회운동론, 제도주의론 등을 활용해 사회혁신이 어떻게 역량강화와 사회전환으로 이어지는지 탐색한다. 유럽연합 집행위원회의 지원을 받아 2014부터 진행되고 있으며 2017년에 완료될 계획이다.

TRANSIT에는 유럽과 남미의 12개 기관들이 참여하고 있다(에라스무스 대학의 DRIFT(네덜란드 전환연구소) 주관 기관). 그리고 20개의 실천조직들과 네트워크를 형성하고 있다: Ashoka, Basic Income Earth Network(BIEN), Credit Unions, Different types of credit cooperatives, DESIS-network, European Network of Living Labs, FABLABS, Global Ecovillage Network, Hackerspaces, INFORSE, International Co-operative Association, Living Knowledge Network, Participatory Budgeting, RIPESS, Seed Exchange Network, Shareable-Sharing Cities, Slow Food, The Impact-Hub, Time Banks, Transition Towns, La Via Campesina.

특히 TRANSIT 팀은 기존 전환연구의 MLP(Multi-level Perspective; landscape, regimes, niches)에 대한 비판을 반영하여 5개의 기본 개념을 검토하여 제안한다: (1) social innovation, (2) system innovation, (3) game-changers, (4) narratives of change, (5) societal transformation. 여기서 narratives of change가 여러 층위를 잇는 담론으로 강조된다.
